Robin Kimber

Robin Kimber was born in Trieste, Italy and began his musical education as a chorister at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Suffolk.  From Boston Grammar School, Lincolnshire, he won an Organ Scholarship to Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and subsequently studied under Christopher Bowers Broadbent as R J Pitcher Scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, London.  He was Director of Music at St Michael's Collegiate Church, Tettenhall, but returned to Oxford as University Organist.  He became Organist at the Sheldonian Theatre, home of the University's degree ceremonies, a position he still holds, playing for visiting Royalty and Heads of State at Encaenia.  He was subsequently Assistant Organist at Christ Church Cathedral under Francis Grier.

Robin is now Director of Music at St James's Sussex Gardens, a post he combines with the conductorship of the Epsom Choral Society and of the London Pro Arte Choir.  He also enjoys a varied career as repetiteur, continuo player, recitalist and teacher of the Alexander Technique.
